Summary: Could be much better 2010-03-09
Comment: I have mixed feelings about this product. It arrived as scheduled and was pretty much as described. We bought it for my 2 year old Yorkie who recently lost his companion dog. He only "sort of" enjoyed the Snuggle Puppy. However, a few weeks later when we bought a new Yorkie puppy as a companion, the new puppy seemed to really enjoy the Snuggle puppy. So, assuming it works, there are a couple of things they need to fix. The heartbeat unit is very large for what it does and that may have something to do with why the button type batteries need replacing so often. I expected the heartbeat unit to be half the size it is. This large size heart unit leaves less room for the "rice bag" you heat in the microwave to provide the warmth. This leaves you more reliant on the disposable heat packets. If their intent was to make extra money selling you packets and batteries...it's ingenious, though I can buy those items much cheaper elsewhere than from them. On the other hand, better battery life from a smaller unit, giving the rice warmer packet more room, would make the product so much better.

Comment: It may be useful for new born puppies but i bought it for my 8 week old vizsla that was coming to us(a new home). The first day i used it she tore it up. Riping the velcro off and getting inside and ripping the stuffing out. The concept was awesome but as stated before must be for one to two week old pups or tiny breeds.

Summary: not worth the money 2009-12-16
Comment: I ordered 2 of these for puppies that are going to a new home for christmas. First the stuffed animal is of the lowest quality, the type you would find at a county fair, fur is not soft. Second one of the packages was open and one item was missing. I called the seller who said they would have the vender call me, passing the buck and the vender never called me. The warm packs are just the hand warmers you can get a box of at costco. I am very disappointed with this product it is trash. You would be better off buying a stuffed animal for a fraction of the price and cut a opening and making a pouch that you can put something warm in. Cute idea but they totally rip you off with poor quality.

Comment: We loved the idea of having this Snuggle Puppy for our pup when she came home. I had it shipped directly to the breeder so the scent of the litter would be on it for the 3-hour ride home. Our puppy LOVED this toy. It was her comfort toy. That being said, I think that ANY stuffed cuddly toy would have been fine. We could not feel the heartbeat as it was in the middle underneath a thick layer of stuffed animal. The heating pad went on top of the heatbeat machanism and then it was velcro'd shut. The heartbeat battery dies very quickly, even with our turning it off first thing in the AM. After going through 3 sets of batteries in a short amount of time, we just resorted to using a small ticking clock just outsie her crate and it worked fine. The heating pad didn't work very well. We bought some spares...of the 4 that we had 2 worked and 2 did not (they were fully enclosed in the plastic packaging without rips). When it did work, it was hottest on the bottom of the toy where the velco opening was located. It was not warm on the top, where our pup cuddled with it. We never tried using the little sack provided for warming rice, beans, etc. The stuffed animal was a nice size. When we brought our standard poodle pup home, she was 5# and the toy was large but still a nice size for her. At 4 months old and 21#, the toy was still a very nice size for her. Unfortunately, we just recently had to throw the toy out. She loved it so much that she destroyed the nose to the point that we couldn't sew it...stuffing was all over my living room. It is not very durable. She was also able to un-velco the opening at an early age, again making the heartbeat and wamer useless.
Bottom line: I would have just gone with a cheaper cuddly stuffed animal and a ticking clock. The warmer was a nice feature but not reliable.

Comment: We got a new puppy last week and this item really helped with the sepperation with her litter mates and her first ride home. We use it at night as well and she loves it! Nothing dangerous on it like button eyes and it is well made. Comes with 2 heat packs for 20 hours each of warmth, the heartbeat sound and a bag for warm rice to use to heat as well! A definite must for new pups.
