This review is from: Mysterious Purr Padd Cat Cushion, Charcoal (Misc.) I first discovered the "mysterious purr pad" several years ago at a Pet store. I would never have bought it, the material is unpleasant to the touch---rough, coarse, certainly not soft---but someone there at the store, another cat person, encouraged me to try it. It immediately became the favorite, BY FAR, resting place for my elderly cat. In short, every cat that I know of who tries this, including our other cats who are quite young, prefers this to any other type of bedding or place to lie on. I have cut up one of them (they come in large rectangular shapes) and used the pieces to cover the flat resting areas on my cat condo, for example the two small "houses" that my condo has. Another is under a chair, and another on the end of my bed. I've never tried to wash them. They last a long time but eventually the usage and the cat's claws do make the material appear to be pulled up, not nice and flat as it is originally. This review is from: Mysterious Purr Padd Cat Cushion, Charcoal (Misc.) Normally my cats need a few days to adjust to new bedding but these they actually like. I put one under a window and the other on chair, the cats have been rotating themselves. I personally wouldn't want to sleep on something with that material but the cats like rubbing on the pads.
The care instructions were difficult to find, they aren't on the box or on amazon. But I did finally find it on Foster&Smith.com. Vacuum and hand wash, no real surprise there. 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful: By Lady Action Fan (Illinois) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Mysterious Purr Padd Cat Cushion, Charcoal (Misc.) I've been using the charcoal Purr Pads for my 2 cats for over a year now. Originally, I bought one for my senior tabby whom I suspected had arthritis. He loves it. My other cat, a 20lb Maine Coon, had to have one even though he's too large for the pads. He'd force the Tabby off every chance he got.Mr. Picky Tabby uses his all the time - summer or winter. And they last for months. I think I replaced the one used by my clawed Maine Coon after six months. He will unintentionally shred them with his claws. (After about 3 months, I just turned it over to the intact side). The one used by my Tabby who was front declawed (by a previous owner), lasts practically forever. (The only reason I usually have to replace his is because he has IBD and sometimes has nausea due to it). I tried the white pads for the first time a couple of months ago. They have to be made out of a material different than the gray. The Maine Coon shredded through his in days, just by jumping up...Read more |
