I bought this bed for an extended camping trip in order to keep my dog up off the ground. My dog and I had rejected other models as they did not keep her off the ground. While I was not happy with the design of this bed, I kept it and we used it because it was the only option we could find. Two things are really wrong with this bed.

1. The cover fits too tightly to allow the cot to maintain its unfolded status. Pushing the cot into the level, open position was very difficult. When you did get the frame into the open position, as soon as you took your hand off of it, back it sprang into a partially open position. It would be very easy to hurt your hand trying to push the cot open. We ended up keeping the zipper about 3/4 of the way zipped in order to reduce the tension of the cover on the frame. The cover sagged on that end so we had to be careful to turn that side to the back. My dog is 50 pounds. A larger dog might have "hit bottom" with the zipper this way.

We purchased this item and first had the problem that it would not flatten all the way, it was raised in the middle and would only flatten when our dog actually got on top of it. After about a week, the fabric finally stretched and it would sit flat on its own. There are bolts on the side of it which really dinged up the wood molding on our wall. We ended up having to get putty to cover those but it would be nice if this item came with something for protecting the walls since I would think that dog beds normally sit against a wall when they are indoors. We have now had this product for only a month and the legs on the bed are bending (as in the the metal is bending and the bed is broken, not that the leg is simply folding under) so not only is the bed now at a permanent slant but it has also dinged up our hardwood floors! This bed is my second Coolaroo bed. The first was not a folding bed. They have both been very good. This one is a folding frame. I did not need the folding mechanism, but the legs in the middle of the bed adds additional support. The dog I have is 170 pounds. That is over the recommended weight for this bed, but is holding up fine.
